Preparing for the training session

You must prepare your development environment before you perform the exercises for this training session. We assume that you have the latest version of Neo4j Desktop installed.

Step 1: Download files used for this training session.

Step 2: Install and configure components you will use for the training session.

Step 3: Confirm that your development environment is is ready for the hands-on exercises for this training session.

Download this file on to your local machine:

This is a 2.5Gb file!

Step 2: Install and configure components you will use for the training session.

In Neo4j Desktop:

  1. Create a 4.1.x database in a project of your choice.

  2. Add the APOC plugin to the project.

  3. Configure at least 2G heap and 512M Page Cache for your Neo4j instance

  4. Start the Neo4j instance to make sure it starts with the configuration changes.

Step 3: Confirm that your development environment is is ready for the hands-on exercises for this training session.

  1. Make sure that you have 4-8 Gb RAM free.

  2. Make sure you have at least 30 Gb free space on your hard drive.

    1. The downloaded extracted files will be 5Gb.

    2. The database sill be 17Gb

  3. Have an IDE/development setup for a language of your choice: Python, Java, C#, JavaScript
