Hands-on GenAI Workshop
Tour Neo4j Aura, design a data model, load it with mock data, and choose what to build next: a dashboard, a data visualisation, an AI agent, or an MCP server that lets you ask questions about your data from your chosen large language model, eg. Claude or ChatGPT. No coding experience needed.
In this 2-hour workshop, you will learn
The Hands-on GenAI Workshop is a session where you leave with real results: a dashboard, a data visualisation, queried data, an AI agent that answers questions about your own data, or your data connected to your large language modelA model trained on text to predict the next token, and so to generate language. through an MCP server.
Taking part earns you a certificate, and the materials stay available afterwards, so you can work through them at your own pace.
Graph data modelling
Turn your own idea into a graph data model of nodes, relationships, and properties, with an AI coach.
Loading data
Generate realistic mock data from your model and load it into your own Neo4j Aura instance.
Cypher
Read and write Cypher queries that follow connections across your graph, and generate them from plain English.
Visualisation
Explore your graph in Bloom and build a dashboard of charts from queries.
Aura Agent and GraphRAG
Build an AI agent that answers questions about your data, and check exactly how it found each answer.
MCP server
Connect your graph to your own AI tools, like Claude, and ask questions of your live data.
What you need to take part.

Who this workshop is for
Anyone curious about building with GenAI and graphs. No prior knowledge of Neo4j is needed, and no code is needed - AI helps you at every step. If you already know CypherNeo4j's implementation of GQL, the ISO standard query language for graph databases. It is declarative: you describe the pattern to find, and the database decides how to find it., bring it: there is plenty of room to write your own queries. You need a laptop, a browser, and an idea (or you can borrow one of ours).
How it works
The session opens with a demo of an AI answering questions straight from a graph, then a rapid tour of Neo4j AuraNeo4j's fully managed cloud service. - Query, Bloom, Dashboards, Agents, and a bonus MCP server. Then you build:
- Design your data modelThe labels, relationship types and properties chosen to represent a domain. with an AI coach
- Load it into your own Neo4j Aura instanceA single Neo4j database running in Aura. with generated mock data
- Build something fun with it: a visualisation, a dashboard, queries, or an AI agent
Each step leaves you with something real, and everything you build, including your Aura instance, stays yours.
Where to go next
Neo4j & Generative AI Fundamentals goes deeper into RAGFetching relevant context from an external data source as additional context to inform a language model's response., vector searchFinding the records whose vectors lie closest to a query vector., and GraphRAGRetrieval-augmented generation whose context comes from a knowledge graph, so the model can follow the relationships between facts.. Building AI Agents with Aura Agent covers agents in detail. Cypher Fundamentals and Graph Data Modeling Fundamentals build on the skills you used today.
