Module 4
The Instance Lifecycle
In this module, you will manage the full life of an Aura instanceA single Neo4j database running in Aura. from your terminal. You will create a real free instance and save its one-time credentials, change it while it runs, pause and resume it to control costs, and learn to delete an instance safely — including the guardrails that replace the confirmation prompt the CLI doesn't have.
You will:
- Create a free instance with
instance createand follow its status fromcreatingtorunning - Rename and resize instances with
instance update— a rename never breaks a connected application - Pause and resume instances for cost control, and learn the free tier's auto-pause schedule
- Delete an instance permanently, with the pre-flight checks and script patterns that make it safe
- Apply the rules that govern every operation: asynchronous statuses, one operation at a time, and IDs over names
- Match situations to commands and cautions in a module-wide quick check
