text chunk

A piece of a larger document, small enough for a model to process and specific enough to be worth retrieving on its own.

Also written: text chunks, chunk, chunks, chunking

Example

The opening of Don Quixote, held as three chunks.

Each (:Chunk) holds one passage in its text property. A search about what the gentleman ate returns the second chunk on its own, rather than the whole book.
